The Rest of the Summer

In July Gary and I decided to take a vacation for an early 9th anniversary celebration since we had not been on a trip by ourselves since our 1st anniversary. We went to Dallas and had so much fun eating and sleeping. We also played at Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor. Our 4 star hotel room was awesome and since we used Priceline it was very affordable. We ate at Bob's Steakhouse, The Cheesecake Factory and Uncle Julio's. It was wonderful to be able relax and enjoy time together.

Also in July we went with my family to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. It was funny how we payed a decent price to get in only to spend half the day watching and playing with the one who got in free. It was worth it though because Katy was having a blast. There was so much for her play on that she was running in every direction. The park is so big that we ended up not getting to ride everything we wanted, but we still had a ton of fun.

While on vacation we went to San Antonio to walk around on the river walk and stopped by the Alamo. Katy was VERY impressed.

In August we had Katy's picture made at the Arboretum by Sarah Bigalow. We are very impressed with the way they turned out. Sarah is very good with kids and was able to get Katy to do almost anything she asked. It was the most stress free picture time we have had. I think I am done with the studios.

Here is a link to the pictures on Picasa.

June Happenings

Yes I am just now blogging about June. When I get a chance to get on the computer I feel I need to work so there is not a lot of time for blogging. I feel a heavy weight lifted when I update so here we go. I have some great pics of our sweet Katy so I will let those do most of the talking.

Here she is on her new motorcycle rocker from Gran and Pop. We are getting her started early so she can take after her cool parents. (Our pic is from 2006, before Katy. I miss riding so much.)

Katy loves the water so we got her a small pool to play in and maybe teach her to swim. We also found a swing set that we got for a steal. She loves to swing and we are adding a slide soon.

I love to play with her hair so I added some pics of her french braided hair. Look at those beautiful baby blues!

Jump n Jungle with friends:

We went to Critterfest at the science spectrum with our friends. They have a great little kids play area that we could have spent all day in. They also had some animals she could feed. She did much better this time than she did at the library. She wasn't as scared to let them eat out of her hand. The last thing we did was go to a tiger show which was actually frightening. The guy did not seem like he had the tigers under control and at times he seemed unsure of himself in the ring with them. We were all afraid something traumatizing was going to happen and were ready to leave before the show was over. Overall we had a blast and can't wait to go back next year.

She loves to chill in her Jump-o-lene. Since we have yet to purchase a dining table this takes it's place. We like to focus on the important things. ;)

We captured some great shots of her playing with her daddy's gloves. She is ready to go to work.

Zoo Animals

The other day we went to the library to see Kenny's Korral Zoo Animals. There were goats, cows, a camel and others. Katy couldn't seem to decide whether she liked them or not. She would get close and want to touch them until one would sniff her and then she would pull away. The camel was the one she was most scared of because he was so big. I think she was much happier when we were safely back in the car.

Two oops in two days

Well, it was the last day of Super Kids and it was sad to say goodbye to her teachers. Anyway, I put Katy in her car seat and her hair was falling down so I took that moment to put her clips back in her hair. Well, out of habit, I thought I was finished with her and proceeded to head home. Halfway down Frankford Ave I turned around only to find Katy had scooted down and then jumped out of her seat and began running around the back of the Yukon. Instead of buckling her in I had put in her hair clips and thought I was finished! What was I thinking?! I had to pull over into a parking lot and buckle her in the seat. She thought she had just won the jackpot. Well, as if that isn't bad enough, the next day we went to a birthday cookout at the Pepper's house. They have a huge back yard with a volleyball net and a dog run next to it. Katy loved to go in the dog run to watch their dog run around and try to give him hugs. I was playing volleyball and looked over only to find Katy in with the dog with a ring of brown around her mouth. Immediately my heart sank and my stomach began to churn at the thought of her eating DOG POOP! I knew I was not going to be able to get it away from her without gagging. Luckily enough for us it turned out to be a piece of chocolate that was thrown over the fence by the neighbor kids. Whew! I lucked out on that one. I think both of these qualify me in the running for the "bad mom of the month" award. I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Easter

For Easter Katy got to hunt eggs at Superkids and at Grandmother's house. She loves easter eggs but she figured out early on that the best part is what's inside. We couldn't get her to hunt all of the eggs at once because she would pick one up and then work to open it. She was a lot of fun to watch anyway. We didn't dye eggs this year and my friends have given me a hard time, so the tradition will for sure start next year. By the way, these amazing pictures were taken by Gary's cousin's husband, Jonathan. He is just getting into professional photography and is needing some subjects for practice. We feel we have a great subject for him to practice anytime.

Tulsa

We took a much needed trip out of town to Tulsa, OK for about three days. Katy was a great traveler even though we didn't stop soon enough to change her poopy diaper and it got on her carseat. Yes, it smelled like poop in the car for the rest of the trip. But we still had a great time. At the International Soul Winning Workshop we got to see so many people that we had not seen in a while. It was so great! We ate with some of the current Acappella guys, but mostly we hung out with our friends from Canada, Robert and Melissa and their two adorable kids, Josiah and Abigail. Katy and Josiah played some and he was so sweet to her. One night we were sitting in the pavilion listening to a speaker and Josiah was sharing his fish crackers with Katy. She got some on her cheek and he reached up and got it off and then fed it to her. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

While we were in Tulsa there was a huge blizzard. We had some fun driving in the snow, but the roads weren't too bad the last day for the drive home. On the way we stopped in Amarillo to eat supper at The Big Texan. (No Gary did not get the 72 oz steak although he could have eaten it all.) The food was good, but definitely a tourist trap. We got some great pics of Katy in her cowgirl hat anyway.

February 2009

The other day Gary and I took Katy to a park. She loves outside so much. She had so much fun climbing on the equipment, but the slides were a little scary.

There was a Valentine's party at Superkids. All of the classes went up on stage to sing a song. The kids in Katy's class were all so cute, but they kindof just sat there. Hey, at least she sat there like a good little girl. I was impressed.

They were giving out balloons at Chick-fil-a for Valentine's Day. Katy LOVES balloons. She fell asleep holding a balloon in each hand because she refused to let go while sitting in her new car seat. Yea, forward facing! She was exhausted. We couldn't resist her cuteness and just had to get a picture. Also on Valentine's, daddy got her a sucker. She thought it was yummy!

Katy driving?! Yikes!

This is a bouncy horse at the Evans Sr. house that Gary Jr. played on when he was little. They named him "Rawhide". Gary has a scar on the back of his head because he was standing up on the horse and fell off. (I think I got the story right.) Anyway, Katy loves riding Rawhide now too.
